The "Punch" brand was developed in 1840 by Don Manuel Lopez, owner of the
J. Valle y Cia. In that time a nickname comic book was in fashion and the brand was introduced in the British market. The image of comedian Mr. Punch adorns the box of these coveted mid-taste Habanos until our days. The "Punch" cigars quickly proved their quality and took the market place. Punch had tremendous popularity in Britain, so when Sir Winston Churchill was in Havana he visited the Monte y Zulueta factory. Ultimately, the British politician agreed to give his name to one of the sizes of this brand. |
